We have known each other for a long time and for those of you who know us, you know what a long and crazy process this has been for the both of us. We first met in the 9th grade and went through every year of school together as good friends. After high school graduation we both went our separate ways for college but with the long distance phone calls and letters written between us, love grew between us. After our college graduations, we both planned on moving to the same city to see how things went. We are now engaged!!!

We would talk about "when we're married" but we had never talked about actually getting married. So it was a complete surprise when he DID propose. We were away on a little "getaway" to Santa Cruz, hiking in the redwoods. We stopped for a picnic near this giant tree that had a beautiful view of the ocean. The fog was just clearing. As Shane unloaded the picnic goodies from his backpack, the ring box fell out and landed right at my feet! It wasn't quite how Shane had planned it but it was still very sweet and romantic. He immediately dropped to his knee, picked up the box and asked me to marry him!
